Like the title says: I’m wondering what you are going to achieve in 2020. Let this article be an inspiration AND a way to be held accountable. Actually, I really like the idea of an accountability buddy, or accountabuddy.
I’m Going To…
What you say you’re going to do, is not always what you actually will do. So many of us will say “one day, I’ll be X, Y, Z”. But how many of these ideas, dreams, actually become true?
Instead of saying “one day”, try “day one”. It’s only switching out two words! It’s not that hard!
It means that instead of day dreaming, you’re actually going to do something. And not one day in the future, no. Today is the day. Day one.
If you’re telling me you want to run a marathon in 2020, and you’re going to start training and eating right starting on January 1, go away. Seriously. Start today. Put on your shoes and go for a run. I don’t care if it’s only for 10 minutes. Do it. Start building the habit today.
The reason I’m stressing this is that it’s not about the 10 minute run. If you ask any marathon runner (or football player, or weight lifter) what the exact training session was they became world-class, they can’t answer that.
It wasn’t this or that day they suddenly became good. It was all of the things they did combined. So since it takes a lot, start now. Don’t hesitate.
But anyway, since we’re a few days before the new year, let’s see what we will accomplish next year. Or you know, plan to accomplish.
In my business I have one simple goal. I will make 100,000 euros in profit in 2020. This is slightly over 8,300 euros per month. With my current projects, I will be bringing in about 12,000 per month in revenue. I’d say it is doable to make the 8k+ in profits with that kind of revenue, although I do have to account for vacations and other moments without revenue.
Included in my business is my freelancing work (majority of revenue), this blog (some affiliate income) and some other things I’m trying out.
In 2019, I started practicing grappling (Brazilian jiu-jitsu). If you don’t know what that is, try to combine judo, wrestling, and involuntary yoga in your head. Sometimes we also call it “the art of folding clothes with the person still in them”.
I’m planning to compete at least two times next year. I have never competed in BJJ before, but in my original sports I was quite OK (competed at the national level for a couple of years). Competitive I am. Competed in grappling I have not. But I will. Osss!
So What About You?
Tell me what you are going to achieve next year. If you put in your comment below, you can look back during the year for motivation. If you want, I can record myself telling you to man-up and do the thing. It might help.
